LA Throwback Foundation Principles

Our values are Service • Community • Transparency

The LA Throwback Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity that hosts the LA Throwback
Beach Ultimate Fest, an annual beach ultimate tournament on Santa Monica Beach.

We use the funds to promote the playing and teaching of ultimate

(with an emphasis on beach ultimate) and the civic engagement of our community.

We support young players to become organizers and leaders in our sport and

we want to help change the demographics of our sport to reflect the larger communities in which we live.

Our Culture

  • Respect
Teams put a lot of time, money and heart into coming, they deserve a top-notch experience when they are here.
  • Responsiveness
Each team will have a dedicated contact person to offer help or respond to concerns.
  • Participation
We want to maximize involvement in making Throwback happen, and we want your input about what you care about most at the tourney.
  • Affordability
The tournament entry fee should be reasonable, and any charges for extra players should only be enough to cover any extra costs incurred.
  • Fairness
The money available for paying people should be shared among all those doing the work based on their effort level.
  • Transparency
Everyone participating should know where the money goes. We will publish our detailed budget after the event.
  • Reciprocity
We’ll work to raise funds to support the further growth of the sport.
  • Community
We seek to form long-lasting relationships with and between participating teams, and to support the broader growth of the sport.
  • FUN!
    ’nuff said.
