LA Throwback Host Teams

At our annual Beach Ultimate Fest, LA Throwback works with local area teams to help put on a stellar event with a high level of service.&nbsp

Host teams host divisions of up to 20 teams and run the “Division Central” for each, making sure teams have everything they need, setting up the field lines, making sure plenty of water and ice are close at hand, answering questions, and making sure play runs smoothly.  Through this process, young players learn to be organizers in the sport. As the tourney grows, our ability to include more host teams does too. We share as much of proceeds as possible with these teams to help support their growth and success.&nbsp

Below are the host teams that helped make our Beach Ultimate Fest in 2020 a big hit. If you have a team that is interested in helping make the tourney this year the very best one yet, and in getting financial support and experience in tourney organizing, please contact us at host_teams@lathrowback.org

Los Angeles Astra

Professional Womxn’s team

After an inaugural year as the 99’s, LA’s professional womxn’s ultimate team has changed their name to Los Angeles Astra. The Latin word for stars, Astra represents our city’s connections to Hollywood and scientific exploration – as well as our team’s desire to always reach for more. We are the first professional women’s team in LA, after years of just having a men’s team. We believe that women deserve to be seen, and their abilities showcased on the biggest stage available. Astra is so excited to partner with LA Throwback and to be a part of the LA Throwback 2020 Beach Ultimate Fest. Our goal is to raise awareness of professional women’s ultimate, build and strengthen our community of ultimate frisbee supporters, and raise money for our 2020 season.
