We would like to express both our grief and anger at current events and all the Black lives lost at the hands of police brutality. Our hearts go out to the families of those who have been murdered, to those who fight for justice and those who are put in harm’s way as a result.
As an organization we want to make the following things clear:
We believe that Black lives matter.
We believe that there is no place for racial and social injustice in our society.
We believe that there is a deep systemic problem in the police force.
We believe that this is reflective of deeper problems with institutional racism within our society.
We believe that it is time for change.
We are inspired by the breadth and depth of energy and passion in the current movement demanding meaningful change. We ask the members of our community to reflect on what anti-racist actions they are taking in the current moment, and how they will continue into the future. We will do the same and continue to take anti-racist action in whatever way we can.
